Recap CJ Auto Used Parts 100
After a week off, absolutely gorgeous weather greeted drivers and fans as the staff of County Line Raceway opened the gates for the CJ Auto Used Parts 100! These drivers would battle throughout the night for the checkers, as well as double points.
Up first, the Middlesex Family Dental Super Stock 4 division with Bill Winstead & John Proctor on the front row. Lap 1 wound see the caution come out for Glenn Baker & Chris Moore who tangled as they entered turn 1. After a short yellow flag, we were back green with Bill Winstead leading John Proctor, Eric Hill, Austin Holcombe & William Carroll. With the new track configuration, these guys were racing side by side with a lot of passing through the field. John Proctor would challenge Winstead a few times but couldn't complete the pass as Austin Holcombe developed some sort of issue and retreated to the pits. With 8 laps complete, Winstead continued to hold off a hard charging John Proctor, Eric Hill held onto 3rd spot, William Carroll held down 4th and Jamie Bailey rounded out the top 5. The second caution would come out as Michael Hill exited the raceway slowly on lap 12. With 8 laps to go, it was up to Bill Winstead to lead the field to the green flag. John Proctor challenged hard for the lead but couldn't take the top spot away as they took the green flag but Winstead slammed the door on him quickly, trying to put distance between them. With 2 to go Winstead developed some sort of mechanical issue and exited the track as John Proctor took over the lead. Proctor would bring home the checkers followed by Eric Hill, Glenn Bottoms, William Carroll & Austin Larrison. This is the defending champion's 2nd win of the season.
CJ Auto Used Parts pace truck lead the PL Woodard PSV8 division with Jerry Williams & Gary Whitley on the front row. Gary Whitley would jump out front quickly followed by Williams, Wade Ferrell, Jason Schlafer & Kevin Beard. Several cars would get out of shape in turn 3 on lap 3 bringing out the caution, but we were quickly back green flag racing. Whitley continued to lead the field as 6th through 10th jockeyed and jostled for position. As the laps wound down, Williams tried in vain to get around Whitley but Whitley was not having any of it. Gary Whitely would go on to bring home the win followed by Jerry Williams, Wade Ferrell, Jason Schlafer & Kevin Beard.
With heavy hearts, the Barnes Equipment Late Models lined up and cut their engines for a moment of silence for Tart Brothers Racing on the loss of their mother Allie. Travis Hair lead a couple of pace laps in the missing man formation in respect and honor of her memory. Christian Joyner & Dustin Mitchell would lead this field to the green flag for 30 hard laps of late model racing. Joyner would take the point quickly but Mitchell was hungry for that top spot as he stayed dead on his bumper. Mitchell would get around Joyner by lap 3 while Bobby Bottoms maneuvered his way around Michael Batten while Travis Hair held onto 5th spot. Mitchell absolutely dominated this 30 lap feature event and would bring home his 3rd win of the season. Christian Joyner would bring home 2nd, Bobby Bottoms came home 3rd, Michael Batten & Travis Hair rounded out the top 5.
The PlayTyme Concessions Pure Stock 4 division entered the track with JP Brantley & Robby Causby on the front row. Three and four wide through one and two, half way down the backstretch as they came around to complete lap 1. JP Brantley held off Brent Atkinson for 4 laps, when Brent finally got around him to take the lead. JP battled hard to get back in the lead but Atkinson held strong. Jeffery Patterson would go hard into turn 4 barely making contact with 2nd place JP Brantley, causing them both to spin on lap 7. Both cars were able to continue as we went back green. A multi-car accident would slow the field as the 16 of Cooper Edwards got into the 88 of Jeremy Benson causing a couple of other cars to spin to avoid. After cleanup from our fast acting wrecker crew, we were back green with Atkinson leading the field. Brent Atkinson would lead the remaining laps to bring home the win. He was followed by Cody Keith, Thomas Holbrooke, Jeffery Patterson & Robby Causby.
Our final event of the night, the ARCO Restoration Thunder & Lightning lined up for 20 laps with Lane Proctor and Skeeter Liles your front row. Proctor and Liles would drag race all the way around the 3/8 mile track with Proctor being declared the leader at the line. Matthew Bissette would spin on his own out of turn 4 on lap 3 causing the the caution to come out. Back green, Proctor leading Liles but Liles was wanting that top spot some kind of bad. Liles would finally get around Proctor to take the lead. Mark Boykin, in 3rd spot, would get loose out of 4 spinning in front of the field collecting Luke Owens, who was battling for 4th. Owens would be towed to the pits with extensive front end damage. Skeeter Liles would go on to bring home the win followed by Lane Proctor, Brad Hamm, Wade Ferrell & Chris Radford.
