New England Dwarf Car Series
Harwood “Tops” the Field!
Lee, NH- A beautiful day for racing was given to us at New Hampshire’s Center for Speed Lee USA Speedway! 20 cars made there way into the pits looking to do battle. Eric Bacon in the 26 paced the first group during practice but Tom Harwood in the 29 paced the second group and the overall practice session.
Heat races were won by Harwood, Cody Hodgdon (31), and Duane Skofield (30). 16 was the number for the invert which would make for an interesting feature event!
“Cupcake” Sarah Hodgdon in the 12 and Jeremy “Mullet Man” Rodimon in the 23 started on the front row. Rodimon would get the early lead showing great speed to lead the first 8 laps. Bacon took the lead on lap 9 after using the outside groove to come from his 9th place starting spot. Harwood would also use the outside groove to drive to the front from his 16th place starting spot and would take the lead on 14.
Caution would fly on lap 15 when Hodgdon and Bacon would make contact battling for 2nd which would send Hodgdon into the wall ending his day. Bacon would take his spot at the end of the field. Harwood would take right off with Andrew Harmon car #14 in tow. Lap 17 caution would fly again as the 25x of Joe Acres, 197 of Mike Henderson and 11 of Larry DeBenedictis spin out in turn 3. Acres would be done for the day.
Harwood would again take right off in the lead as Harmon would give it one last go at making a pass but would be uneventful. Harwood took the win followed by Harmon, Zig Geno in the #57 finished 3rd, Ryan Carman in the 08 in 4th and Bacon drove back thru the field to finish 5th.
