New England Dwarf Car Series
Justin Harris returns to winning ways at Star Speedway while the “Top Gun” Tom Harwood finishes his Crusade for the Bumpy’s Auto Service Crown!
Epping, NH- The New England Dward Car Series Presented by Construction Site Machinery and Bumpy’s Auto Service of Salem, NH ventured to Star Speedway this past weekend to take part in the 59th Annual Star Classic Weekend for the Bumpy’s Auto Service 30 and the third and final crusade in the Bumpy’s Auto Crusade for the Crown! Entering the third crusade in the Bumpy’s Auto Crusade for the Crown “Top Gun” Tom Harwood in the 29 lead the standings with the lowest score in this low score wins series. Harwood entered the event with a score of 2 followed by Cody Hodgdon in car #31 with 6 points and Andrew Harmon in car #14 with 8 points.
With a busy day of racing on tap the series had 1 practice session and that was paced by the 0No of veteran driver Chris Sullivan. Sullivan would go on to take the win in heat race #1 while 2023 series champion “Mr. Clean” himself Justin Harris in the 29NH won heat race #2. After the invert rookie of the year contender Dan Brofman and his black #3NH would start on the front row and was joined by Duane Skofield in the 30. Brofman would lead lap 1 before Harris would catch him after dicing his way to the lead from his 6th place starting spot. Harris would show the way the rest of the way despite having to hold off Harmon on a lap 11 restart and again on a lap 25. Harmon would challenge Harris for the lead on the lap 25 restart but that wouldn’t last long as Harmon had to change his focus to a challenge from Harwood for the 2nd spot during lap 27 and 28. Harris would collect his first win of the 2024 season as he made his second start of the season. Harmon would continue his strong runs to finish 2nd with Harwood settling for 3rd! Eric Bacon in the 26 made his return after a few races off to finish 4th after an intense battle with Cody Hodgdon who had to settle for 5th.
As the dust settled Harwood sat atop the throne and was crowned the winner of the Bumpy’s Auto Service Crusade for the Crown! Harmon used his strong 2nd place finish in the Bumpy’s Auto Service 30 to move himself to a 2nd place finish in the standings with 10 just betting out Cody Hodgdon for 3rd in the standings with 11 points.
