Lupton Goes Two In A Row After A Dramatic Finish
Dylan Lupton, driver of the #56 High Point Racing S2 car, goes back to back in wins this last weekend at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. After an exciting finish ending with a six car crash, Lupton, once again heads to victory lane. This victory has put Dylan tied for first in the Langers S2 series points at Toyota Speedway heading into the last four races.
After an invert of six cars that followed qualifying, Lupton sat off pole for the start of the main, after a dissapointing qualifying run. Dylan quickly jumped out to the lead heading into the first corner and never looked back. At one point in the race Dylan Lupton had a six to seven car lead on teammate Roman Lagudi, until a single car spin out brought out a caution tightening everyone back together.
Lupton expressed, " We had a really good car the first half of the race, until they threw the caution flag.. after that, the car tightened up on me and was snapping loose in the middle of the corner when I was getting back to the gas pedal."
Although the car wasn't handling the best, Lupton was able to hold onto the lead for the remainder of the race, which ended with a dramatic finish. Heading into the last corner on the last lap, teammate Roman Lagudi, tried a late pass for the win. He dove underneath Dylan in turn three and as the two teammates were driving off of four, Lupton was pulling away to another win. As Lagudi was out of Lupton's sight, he got loose and cut back into the rear end of Lupton, causing both of them to spin out. Both of the drivers rolled past the finish line backwards with Lupton barely edging out Lagudi for his second win in a photo finish. The real carnage came from the following four race cars as they smashed into Roman and Dylan at the finish line.
Lupton explained, “Tonight was another great night, other than all the carnage on the last lap, for the #56 car...in the past two weeks, I feel very comfortable with the car and my abilities to push it to take the win. If we have the correct set up for the next few races and keep our nose clean, there isn’t any reason I see for us to not collect more victories and to win the championship."
Heading into the last four races of the season, the #56 high point racing crew and Dylan Lupton look to get there third victory in a row and stretch take over the points lead from teammate Roman Lagudi. Dylan Lupton would like to thank all his sponsors and people that have helped him to get to victory lane: High Point Racing, Durocast Radio, Lupton Excavation, D Racing Enterprises, Justice Brothers, Liz-Zard Engines, and Racecar Factory.
