Anderson Qualifies Fast Time, Lupton Earns Podium Finish
Simi Valley, CA - High Point Racing S2 action returned to Toyota Speedway Saturday night as four S2 cars hit the track for the “blue crew.” Rookie S2 driver and former Super Truck driver, Joe Anderson made his debut in the #59 S2. Wasting no time getting up to speed “Smokin Joe” turned up the heat in qualifying and posted the quick time. He was followed by his three High Point Racing teammates; Roman Lagudi, Dylan Lupton and David Busby.
With the announcement following qualifying that there would be a full field invert, Joe knew he had his work cut out for him.
“The car is really quick. It’s a lot of fun to drive and I know I’ve got a lot of work to do in a short amount of time,” Anderson said before the race.
With a 25 lap main event and nine cars starting in the field, Joe looked forward as he began to pass cars. Making it more difficult was that the race went caution free. Joe passed teammates Roman Lagudi and David Busby but was unable to pass the #56 of Dylan Lupton who seemed to be on a mission to get to the front.
“We were coming through the pack one car at a time, but I just ran out of laps after having to start way in the back,” Lupton said after the race.
Unable to take over the top two spots of the evening, Lupton finished in the third position followed by Anderson, Lagudi and Busby.
With his top five finish, fifteen year old Roman Lagudi took over the points lead over Lupton.
