Dylan Lupton Captures First Win Of 2011
This past weekend at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, Dylan Lupton won in the premier Auto Club Late Model race. After a string of rough races in the beginning of the year, Lupton turned around his season capturing a pair of third place finishes and now a victory.
Lupton commanded the weekend by also qualifying on pole position. However, he had to start sixth, due to the invert. By lap 15 Lupton overtook the lead and never looked back. He finished the race with a substantial lead at 2.4 seconds over points leader and teammate Brandon Davis. It was Dylan's 11th late model start at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. Lupton, in the No. 56 Lupton Excavation Chevy, led Racecar Factory-built High Point Racing “blue cars” to finishing positions 1-2-4-6. Lupton, a junior at Pleasant Grove High near Sacramento, said he has been struggling, but got a pair of thirds. “It's exciting to get that first win. My crew and all the HPR guys gave me a great car this weekend and none of this would be possible without them,” he told the media. He won three of 14 S2 series main events last year for HPR and earned several starts in a HPR late model near the end of the season.
Lupton and the number 56 crew will be looking to repeat this last weekend on June 11th at Toyota Speedway. Dylan Lupton couldn't have accomplished what he has so far this year, without the many partners and people backing him. Lupton would like to thank Durocast Radio, Lupton Excavation, D Racing Enterprises, High Point Racing, Justice Brothers, Liz-Zard Engines, Racecar Factory, and all the fans for the support.
