Ian Madsen and KCP Racing Ready for Silver Cup And Return to Knoxville Raceway
PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking part in as many ‘Month of Money’ events as they can with the World of Outlaws, Ian Madsen and the KCP Racing team re geared up to follow the World of Outlaws to Lernerville Speedway tonight following a successful Kings Royal Weekend.
“We were pretty fast all weekend at Eldora,” Ian Madsen said. “Unfortunately we didn’t time in to well during the actual King’s Royal and had to come from the “b” but we moved forward really well.”
The three day Kings Royal weekend kicked off on Thursday night for an event dubbed as Joker’s Wild. Madsen would kick the three-day program off by timing in second quickest during his qualifying flight after an extended rain delay before winning his heat race.
Falling back to seventh in the Dash, Madsen would line up in the fourth row for the 30-lap feature event. With the track still extremely fast from the earlier weather, the feature would click off in high speed fashion, and Madsen would close his night out with an eighth place finish.
Friday’s Knight Before the Royal got off to another great start for Madsen and KCP Racing as the St. Marys, NSW native timed the Logan Contractors Supply Inc./Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring No. 18 entry in third fastest in his qualifying flight.
From the front row of his heat race, Madsen would again pick up the win and move into the Dash where a third place finish would line him up in the third row of the feature event.
Madsen would mix it up with drivers like Brad Sweet and Brian Brown as they jockeyed for position inside the Top-Five. The exciting race would see the current Knoxville Raceway point leader end his night in the fourth spot, and give the team a lot of momentum heading into Saturday’s finale.
The start of Saturday’s Kings Royal would go off script for Madsen and company as he timed in 34th quickest in qualifying time trials. Lining up sixth in his heat, Madsen would show good speed in racing conditions as he finished fourth in his heat race.
Moving into the semi, Madsen would take the checkered flag in the third position and move into the 40-lap Kings Royal feature event where he lined up in the 23rd starting position.
On a racy Eldora Speedway, Madsen was able to move forward from the tail of the field. Making some big moves on the ½ mile oval, Madsen would work his way forward to take the checkered flag with a 14th place finish.
Before Kings Royal weekend got underway, Madsen and team were at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, OH for the Brady Doty Classic, the race that seemingly kicks off a strong of big races known as the “Month of Money”.
Timing the Bobcat/Kline Electric/Greenland Homes machine in ninth quickest during his qualifying flight before racing his way to a second place finish during his heat race.
Finishing sixth in Craftsman Club Dash No. 1, Madsen would line up in the 11th starting position for the 40-lap feature event. Unable to do much during the feature, Madsen would take the checkered flag with a 13th place finish.
“For the most part it was a really good weekend with the World of Outlaws in front of some really strong fields,” Madsen added. “It’s a bummer to have the qualifying effort we had on Saturday night in one of the biggest races of the year, but nobody gave up and I think we showed some resiliency.”
Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Team Kline Electric, Greenland Homes, Team Excavating, TammyHeckart.com, Finer Cuts Lawn and Landscape, Des Moines Area Roofing, Quality Traffic Control, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Monarch’s, and Revolution Race Gear for their support this season.
