Ian Madsen Second With the All Stars
PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking on the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions on Saturday night at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH, Ian Madsen would battle with NASCAR Truck standout, Christopher Bell for the race win before ultimately coming away with a second place finish.
“It’s always rough to come home second, but overall it was another great showing for the entire KCP Racing team,” Ian Madsen said. “We battled up front all night and we just came up a little short on picking up the win.”
Saturday night at Wayne County Speedway, Madsen kicked the night off by timing the Logan Contractors Supply/Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed No. 18 entry in third quickest in his time trial group, which would place him on the front row of his heat race.
From his outside front row starting position, the St. Marys, NSW pilot would get the jump over Caleb Helms as he raced his way to the win and earned a spot in the one of the nightly Dash’s where a win placed him on the front row of the feature event.
Starting on the front row of the feature event, the scene would look just like the heat race as Madsen was able to power to the early lead again over Caleb Helms as he was out front and leading laps early in the ‘A’.
Following a red on the second lap, Madsen would continue to lead the way as Spencer Bayston and Broc Martin followed suit until the caution flag again slowed the action down on the 9th circuit.
Back underway, Madsen continued to lead the way as he began to approach lapped traffic at the race’s halfway point. Now with Christopher Bell and Spencer Bayston chasing after him, action would pick up in thick traffic.
On lap 17 and 18, Madsen would see his two challengers take advantage of him in traffic, as he would fall back to the third spot. With the two leaders getting into each other in front of Madsen, the red flag would fly and Madsen would line up on Bell’s rear bumper for a late race shootout.
Unable to get back around Bell for the win, Madsen would end his night with a hard fought second place finish.
“It was a really good race, but unfortunately Bell was better than we were in traffic tonight and was able to get around us,” Madsen added. “Thanks to this KCP Racing team for all of their hard work, we are looking forward to battling the Outlaws this weekend.”
Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Team Kline Electric, Greenland Homes, Team Excavating, TammyHeckart.com, Finer Cuts Lawn and Landscape, Des Moines Area Roofing, Quality Traffic Control, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Monarch’s, and Revolution Race Gear for their support this season.
