Double Down Again

Hey race fans! It’s been a few weeks, but here is a recap on the close racing action that this weekend provided.
On Friday Eric and the ever hard working crew pulled double duty at Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids IA bring both the 360 HRA Non-wing and 410 Outlaw Winged Sprint to competition! The night started well with Eric edging the field in the non-wing for his heat. However, the 410 was acting up with a sour sounding motor for its heat. “The car ran great for a couple of laps,” stated Eric, “but then it started sounding off at the end of the race.”
The crew went through the motor and found a bunch of dirt in one of the nozzles for the fuel injection, cleaned them up, put fresh plugs in and got ready for the non-wing feature.
“I can not say enough about how hard Dick and Sandy Schulz, Jason Brugger and Vanessa Prasnicki work on my toys. There is no way this race team could survive without their support and hard work!”
Eric went out for the HRA Non-wing feature in 5th place. Within a few laps the number 4 Kiezer Aluminum Wheels backed sprinter could be found in second putting the pressure on for the lead, not knowing that the pressure was being applied on him for his spot. After dicing around with the top four cars, Eric made a run for second on the last lap, last corner that didn’t stick, and wound up fourth for that feature.
Eric climbed out of his Non-wing and straight into his 410 Outlaw backed by Papik Motors out of Luverne MN to push off in 14th for the feature. Right away you could see that the car was working well, and the motor sounded better. Eric powered his was up to 12th and held his own for a while before the motor started missing and sputtering again. After losing a few spots, Eric decided to cut his losses and pull in for the night. He was scored in 18th of the 23-car field. “The crew and I have some more work ahead of us this week with the 410 acting up a bit. I just hope that it is an easy find and we can get back out there soon.”
Saturday, Eric went to the big half mile in Jackson MN to drive Dick Veekners #4 360 Winged Sprint. The track was a very fast one Saturday, and you could see that the car was hooked up on a rail for the heat race. “The car worked real great in the heat, I barely had to move the steering wheel! The track looked like it wasn’t going to change much so we left a lot alone on the car for the feature.” Stated Eric. That would prove to be a bad decision as the track did slick off. “It was a handful but a great learning experience trying to get an ill handling car to make it around the track. We were able to keep up most of the race but didn’t have much for the pack.”
Eric would be scored in 8th out of 13th for the night.

The next you will see Eric is at Rapid Speedway as he competes with the HRA Non-wing sprints. The rest of the weekend is still up in the air as the crew goes through the 410 to find what ales it and will be taking Saturday off from Jackson Speedway.
