Eric Schulz
A week to Rember the Heros
Last week saw the Ricochet Racing Team stop at three different tracks, Husets Speedway in Brandon SD on Monday, Rock Rapids IA on Friday, and Jackson MN on Saturday.
We kicked the week off with a Memorial Day special to thank all the men and women serving our great Nation at Husets Speedway near Brandon SD. It was our first time out in the Papik Motors 410 Outlaw for the year. We went into the night expecting a test-n-tune manor for the team. “I wanted to shake the car out and see how it felt, take what we could get and not wreck anything the first night out.” Stated team owner and driver Eric Schulz. With the goal in mind it turned out to be a successful night as the car rolled on the trailer and finished 14th after starting 18th in the main event!
It was off to Rocky on Friday night to run the HRA non-wing sprinter. The track was tacky and fast all night with a few ruts for extra traction and Eric spent all night chasing down the first place car and settling for second place. “It was a fun track to drive, running flat out, and the car was set up just right, we just didn’t have enough to take the win.” Eric said after the races.
Jackson Speedway was next up in Dick Veekners 360 winged sprint. Again, thanks to the rains, the track was tacky and fast. The car ran great with the freshened motor and wound up in forth after starting in eighth. “We set the car up a little loose because it looked a tick rough out there when the 305 sprints were on the track. But the high side proved to be smooth and slicked of soon after the race started.” Stated Eric, “When the top shelf got slick the car wanted to spin out real bad. I was forced to drive through the ruts on the bottom to maintain speed. It worked pretty well but I took a butt kicking!”
Next up for Eric and the team are:
Friday- World of Outlaws and HRA non-wing in Spencer IA (Eric will be driving the #4 non- wing only)
Saturday- 360 Winged Sprints in Jackson MN
Sunday- 410 Outlaw Sprints at Hustes Speedway
We’ll see you at the races and keep posted on Facebook.com/ericschulzracing for more updates!
