Colin Shipley scores first Late Model win at Oakshade

Team Shipley Racing pilot Colin Shipley made a mid-week trip to Butler Motor Speedway (Quincy, Mich.) on Wednesday afternoon to compete with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals. In a field of 24 cars, Colin followed up a sixth-place finish in his heat with a runner-up finish in his B-Main. Starting the $5,000-to-win A-Main in 17th, Shipley advanced forward three spots to cross the line in 13th after getting spun around on lap 36.

The following night at I-96 Speedway (Lake Odessa, Mich.), Shipley came in seventh in his heat before placing fifth in his B-Main. Earning a provisional into the main event, Colin was the first retiree of the race on the 16th lap.

Returning to action on Saturday, Colin headed to Oakshade Raceway (Wauseon, Ohio) to enter his Jim White Honda No. 44s Late Model into battle. With a second-place finish in his heat race placing him fourth on the starting grid for the feature, Shipley whizzed past Steve Miller for the lead on the fourth circuit and held off a hard-charging Rusty Schlenk to secure his first career win in the Super Late Model ranks. He finished ahead of Schlenk, Devin Shiels, Dusty Moore, and Casey Noonan.
