Truscinski wins fourth in a row at Greenbush Race Park

Some showers earlier in the day gave way to a beautiful evening and a great night of racing at the Greenbush Race Park.

It was a special for the Streets, and 15 cars lined up hoping to take home the big money. Outside pole sitter John Halvorson of Warren, MN, would be the early leader in the 25 lap feature. Tucker Pederson of East Grand Forks, MN, and Jerome Berger of Badger, MN, made sure Halvorson never got to far out front. It was a good four car race through the middle stages of the feature between Halvorson, Pederson, Aaron Blacklance of Thief River Falls, MN, and Kyle Dykhoff of Perham, MN. Halfway through the race, Pederson made his move and passed Halvorson down the front stretch for the lead. Pederson would hold the lead for about the next five laps until Dykhoff would make the pass coming out of turn four. Dykhoff would pull away over the closing lap’s enroute to his second win of the year. Blacklance would finish second and Pederson third and also win his heat. Doug VanMill of Bagley, MN, won the other heat.

The Mods sent 12 cars out for their feature, and clicked off 20 caution free laps. Mike Tiani of Middle River, MN, lead the first lap, the next lap belonged to Ryan Kereluk of St. Andrews, MB with the pass for the lead down the front stretch. Kereluk was in control up front but it was a good three battle for the second spot between Justin Bronk and Shawn Teunis of West St. Paul, MB and Dustin Wahl of Greenbush. The trio swapped spots a number of times. In the end it was Kereluk picking up his second win of the year, Teunis would finish second and win his heat and Bronk would finish third. Rick Delaine of Stony Mountain, MB would win the other heat.

The Midwest Modifieds would line up 16 cars for their feature and it would be Hunter Hougard of Warren, MN in control early. The race was slowed by only one caution, but Hougard was able to maintain control and go on to get his first win of the year, and a sweep of the evening. Kyle Dykhoff would finish second and win the other heat, and Logan Salazar of Neche, ND third.

Brent Walsh of Badger, MN, would lead the early laps of the 12 lap Pure Stock feature. Darryl Heintz of East St. Paul, MB would pass Walsh for the lead in corner two. Two laps later Walsh would spin in corner three collecting three other cars in the process. Heintz would go on to get his second win of the year and a sweep on the evening. Jared Palm of Warroad, MN, would finish second and A.J. Lane of Williams, MN, third and win his heat.

An unusually light turnout for the Lightning Sprints as they only had eight cars for their feature, and it would be a one-two finish for the Truscinski's of Greenbush, MN, as Alex would get his fourth win in a row and a sweep of the night, and Alan would finish second, with Kelsi Pederson of East Grand Forks, MN, finishing third.

The six car Outlaw Mini Mod feature wasn't decided until the last lap. Kelly Steele of International Falls, MN, passed Dane Olson of International Falls, MN; in corner two on the white flag lap to pick up his fourth win of the year, and sweep of the evening. Olson would finish second and John Dulmage of Ramsey, MN, third.

Up next at the Greenbush Race Park will be the 20th running of the Elliot Baker Memorial for the Modifieds. Also racing that night will be the Streets, Midwest Modifieds, Lightning Sprints, and Pure Stocks. As always, gates open at 4 pm, cutoff for the draw is 6 pm, and the racing gets underway at 7 pm sharp.
