Greenbush Race Park
Dvergsten, Palm and Olson get wins at GRP
A beautiful day turned into a beautiful night and 102 cars signed in at the pit gate for a great night of racing at the Greenbush Race Park.
In the Modified make up feature from last week, Aaron Holtan of Newfolden, MN, led flag to flag to pick up the win. Rick Delaine of Stony Mountain, MB, was second and Jordan Duray of Halma, MN, third.
9/1 Modified race had Shane Wahl of Greenbush, MN, leading the 21 car Modified feature to the green, and lead the first lap before spinning in corner three. Rick Delaine would inherit the lead and go on to lead the next 11 laps before a caution would put everyone on his bumper. Michael Greseth of Harwood, ND, was making his first ever visit to the Park and would restart second, and had the lead coming out of corner two. Greseth would use the high side of the track to go on to pick up the win and a sweep of the evening. Ward Imrie of Winnipeg, MB, would come from seventh to finish second, and Matt Gilbertson of Montevideo, MN, would finish third. The other heat wins went to Jerome Guyot, Shane Wahl, and Aaron Holtan. Mark Esala won the B Main.
The Midwest Modifieds would send 20 cars to take the green for their feature, and Matt Schow of McIntosh, MN, would take the early lead. By lap five, Cody Lee of Starbuck, MN, would make the pass for the lead out of corner four. A late caution would set up a green, white, checkered finish, and Lee would hold everyone off to pick up the win in his first ever visit to the Park. Reise Stenberg of Argusville, ND would finish second and Matt Gilbertson third. Heat wins to Gilbertson, Aaron Blacklance, Jack Rivord, and Schow. Logan Salazar won the B Main.
Tucker Pederson of East Grand Forks, MN, would start on the outside of row one for the Street feature and jump to the lead. Pederson would have to hold off the challenge of Casey Vargason of Edinburgh, ND through the middle portion of the race, as the pair raced side by side for about four laps. Pederson was in control for most of the race, but Kyle Dykhoff of Perham, MN, was quietly working his way forward. Dykhoff had trouble in his heat and would start last, made the pass for the lead on lap 12 coming out of corner four and go on to pick up his fourth win of the year. John Halvorson of Warren, MN, would win his heat and finish second, and Vargason would finish third. The other heat win went to Jerome Berger of Badger, MN.
The 13 car Lightning Sprint feature was slowed by only one caution, but it didn't matter as Dexter Dvergsten led everyone off to pick up his fourth win of the year. Alan Truscinski of Greenbush, MN, would finish second and Kelsi Pederson of East Grand Forks, MN, would finish third and win her heat. The other heat win went to Alex Truscinski of Greenbush, MN.
Juliann Salazar of Neche, ND and John Duray of Karlstad, MN, would lead the 14 Pure Stock feature to the green and the pair would be dead even for the lead on lap one, but Duray would be out front for lap two. Duray would surrender the lead when he bobbled in corner four and Jared Palm of Warroad, MN, would take advantage of the mistake. Palm would go on to pick up win number six on the year and a sweep of the evening. A. J. Lane of Williams, MN, would come from 15th to finish second, and Darryl Heintz of East St. Paul, MB, would finish third and win his heat.
Joel Olson of Karlstad, MN, won the 4 Cylinder feature going away, as the race ran caution free. Mike Demchuk of Dufresne, MB, was second and Brandon Rehill of St. Andrews, MB, was third. Heat wins went to Corey Nelson of Leonard, MN and John Current of Wilton, MN.
