Bruce Jr. Venturing to Florida for Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Season Opener
Inside Line Promotions – OWASSO, Okla. (Feb. 15, 2015) – The 2015 season is around the corner for Tony Bruce Jr., who kicks off the year this Thursday through Saturday in Florida.
Bruce Jr. and his One 8 Motorsports team are headed to East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa for the Ronald Laney Memorial with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour, marking his first trip to the unique track since 2009.
“I remember being right there on the ocean,” he said. “It definitely is affected by the weather and the tide. It’s just a whole different place. As soon as you get it figured out it changes on you.”
Since it has been six years from the last time Bruce Jr. competed at East Bay Raceway Park, he is treating it like a new track.
“I think it’s rejuvenating,” he said. “It’s almost like we’re starting over at a brand new place. Everybody seems to be ready to go. The best time of the year is starting the year off. We have all the same partners coming back with us and we’ve checked some things off the list to be more prepared.”
Bruce Jr. has started the season on the right foot several times, including last season when he won a Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event in only the third race of the year.
“I think it’s really important to do well early,” he said. “You always want to start good because it let’s you know what you did over the winter were the right things and the right moves.”
The One 8 Motorsports team will remain in Florida for another week following the season opener. Bruce Jr. will tackle Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala on Feb. 27-28.
“We’ve put in the time at the shop throughout the offseason so now is the time it will start paying dividends,” he said. “Now we get to go race and have fun.”
