Hagar Wrapping Up Season Saturday at East Bay Raceway Park

Inside Line Promotions – MARION, Ark. (Nov. 30, 2015) – Derek Hagar will end his 2015 campaign at the same track he began in February.

Hagar is set to wrap up the season this Saturday at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Fla., where he will drive for Hardy Maddox at the Top Gun Sprints event.

“We’ve been fortunate to get into some good cars and not have much to worry about,” Hagar said. “I think we can carry it over into this weekend and pull off a victory.”

Maddox and his team are in the hunt for the Top Gun Sprints championship, which is Hagar’s goal for the weekend on top of reaching Victory Lane.

“I have to go out there and drive smart, pretty much like I have been the last couple of years,” he said. “You have to be somewhat conservative, take what you can get. If you do that and keep your nose out of trouble you will end up with some victories, too.”

Hagar kicked off this season at the unique track by narrowly missing advancing into a pair of Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour features a little more than nine months ago. This weekend he will return with added knowledge.

“You have to take a different approach at that race track,” he said. “It’s more of a late model track. You have to drive it a little different than most places. That dirt is a lot different, too.”

Hagar enters Saturday’s event with 15 podium finishes in his last 20 races.
