IT'S OFFICIAL - ROBBIE WALLS, JR. AND MATT HILL FINISH A DEAD HEAT
The Crate Models went 20 laps with a guaranteed spot in the Fall Championship going to the winner. Derek Magee led the first three circuits before Robbie Walls, Jr. moved on top. Dylan Evans worked by Jamie Eichholz for third then two laps later got by Magee for second. At the halfway sign the top five were Walls, Jr., Evans, Sparky White, Matt Hill and Eric Vent.
Just as it appeared that Walls, Jr. had things under control the yellow flew as two cars tangled bringing out the yellow with two laps to go. Walls, Jr. got a good restart with Hill quickly closing. Coming off the final turn, Hill went to the bottom side of Walls, Jr. as the two raced wheel to wheel back to the checkered.
It was a photo finish that was too close to call with both drivers reporting to victory lane with the outcome to be determined upon closer examination of the tape on high definition equipment. That examination took place on Sunday and the race was declared officially a dead heat with both drivers being credited with the win. Third went to Evans while Vent got by White on the final lap for fourth and fifth. Heats were won by Tyler Reed and Hill.
