MATT HILL WINS FIRST CRATE MODEL FALL CHAMPIONSHIP
In Crate Model qualifying on Friday night, Steven Baker and Matt Hill would win the heats putting Hill on the pole for Saturday night’s 25-lap championship. Hill set the pace from the start ahead of a great battle for second between Baker, Tyler Reed, Jamie Eichholz and Eric Vent.
By halfway Vent had worked his way through to second while Baker held on to third. Vent was able to catch the leader Hill with five to go but Hill picked up the pace and went on to his first Fall Championship win. In victory lane, an emotional Hill thanked his father and mother for all their support in making his championship season possible. With the gambler’s bonus, lap leader money and $25 breast cancer awareness bonus Hill’s payday was an impressive $2115. Vent finished in second with Reed third. Baker ended a solid drive in fourth and Eichholz had a season’s best finish in fifth.
