RICKY ELLIOTT IN LATE MODELS ONLY DRIVER TO REPEAT ON NIGHT TWO

Ray Davis, Jr. took full advantage of starting on the pole in the 20 lap Kyle Dixon Memorial Super Late Model feature. Davis, Jr. jumped out to a big lead with his younger brother, Nick Davis getting by Joe Warren for second on lap three.

Donald Lingo, Jr. was making a charge to the front but Ricky Elliott, who started in ninth, swept to the outside of both Lingo, Jr. and Nick Davis to take third on lap five. Elliott slowly began to reel in Davis, Jr. as Lingo, Jr. and Nick Davis battled for third.

The leaders started to work lapped traffic with Elliott now within striking distance. A lapped car seemed to have given Davis the break he needed on lap 15 as Elliott got caught up and lost ground but one lap later the first yellow of the race was out as Andrew Mullins came to a stop.

On the restart, Elliott pulled even with Davis, Jr. and one lap later took the lead. The yellow was out for a final time with two laps to go as Staci Warrington rolled to a stop on the front straight. Elliott had no problem holding off Davis, Jr. for the final two circuits to post his second straight win. Davis, Jr. finished in second with Lingo, Jr. third. Fourth went to Nick Davis and Amanda Whaley rounded out the top five. Heats were won by Lingo, Jr. and Elliott.

“Ray Davis did a heck of a job for someone who didn’t race all last year, said Elliott. “If it hadn’t been for that caution I don’t think that I would have passed him.
