Copper on Dirt Double Duty and Early 2015 Review

The start of 2015 has not been a good one for Hodges Motorsports but we are hoping to turn it around this weekend in Tucson, AZ at the Copper on Dirt. Our year started at the Winter Heat in Yuma, AZ and we had speed in hot laps the first night but got caught up in a wreck. The damage to the car and motor was enough to sideline us until the next week. We were fast once again when the track was locked down or had a cushion to lean on but were terrible when it got even a little bit slick. This continued to our final night at Yuma, but we still didn't get a grasp on what was wrong. From there, we set aside the winged 410 and got the nonwinged 360 ready to go for the Winter Challenge in Tucson but were ultimately rained out. Our only race since then was a World of Outlaws event at USA Raceway in Tucson where we struggled mightily once again with the winged 410 car. However, we've talked to some people and analyzed our situation and I think we have an idea of what to do in order to get better. For now we look ahead to USA Raceway this weekend.

We will be racing two cars both Friday and Saturday; we’ll be competing with the USAC Cra and ASCS Southwest sprint cars in hope of turning things around. We will also be practicing tomorrow so that I can get feel of some of our new changes. Aside from me, Rick Ziehl and Brady Bacon will also be racing double duty and a slate of top notch drivers are scheduled to be in attendance for both divisions. I haven’t been able to keep great updates through the nights on Twitter and Facebook but I will try my best to keep those up to date with our results.
