The Downside of Racing
Well the weekend for the #100 lighting sprint did not go as I had hoped for. The team started the season of at Norman County Raceway in Ada MN last Thursday night. In the heat we had a clutch issue the relegated the #100 to a DNF for the heat. Once in the pits we were able to make some repairs and seemed to have the clutch working properly and headed out for the feature. The feature started out okay but after a few laps the car seemed to ne losing the breaks so I basically rode around to finish out the race with very little stopping power. After the race we found that due to chain travel with the track conditions it got into the brake line and created a small hole and leaked the fluid out as the race went along. On he plus side we completed the race and it was in the trailer in one piece and ready for RRVS on Friday night. Friday the repairs were made to the break line and gears were changed and the #100 car headed to the Red River Valley Speedway to race and what was going to be a fun night turned out different after the heat race. The clutch problem resurfaced quickly after the drop of the green flag and while the RPM kept climbing the speed of the car did not!! Once getting pushed backed to the pits we found the clutch was definitely bad and no repairs could be made to make it out for the feature. However we have learned that replacing clutch discs are not that bad and if we had the replacement kit at the track we could have fixed our problem, lesson learned for next time I guess. The rest of the weekend we did not race as my youngest daughter graduated so time was spent with family and friends. As far as this week goes the clutch is being replaced and the plan is to be at BRRP Saturday night and head to Lisbon for the NLSA tour race and 1st appearance at Sheyenne Speedway. Looking forward to a good weekend of racing and getting some laps in!! Hope to see you all at the races!!
