Chick Continues Quest for Championship With Top-10 Finish at Winchester

Inside Line Promotions – WINCHESTER, Ind. (Sept. 5, 2019) – Mandy Chick is still in the hunt for a JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour championship after a strong top-10 finish at Winchester Speedway last Sunday.

Chick kicked off the World Stock Car Festival weekend on Saturday with a full day of practice to gear up for the 100-lap feature on Sunday. She carried speed throughout the day as well as into the final practice session on Sunday.

“We unloaded with great setup notes from VanDoorn Racing Development from when they tested on Thursday so that was a great start to our weekend,” she said. “We had some shorter practices due to the weather so we didn’t have as much time to dial the car in, but the notes definitely put us where we needed to be for qualifying.”

Chick made a strong qualifying effort, timing in with her career-best lap time around the ‘World’s Fastest Half-Mile,’ placing her ninth quickest on the speed charts.

That lined Chick up on the inside of the fifth row for the 100-lap feature. She picked off a couple of positions to finish seventh, scoring her fifth top 10 of the season and maintaining her position in the championship point standings.

“The track has changed a bit this year, so we battled a tight race car all weekend,” she said. “During the race we even made two pit stops with lengthy adjustments under caution, but we would still be able to drive back through the field each time and make gains forward. We also are able to add more notes and adjustments to our notebook to be ready for the Oct. 11 Winchester race in a few weeks, which will decide the Championship.”

Chick’s next race will be at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Ind., for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Fall Brawl on Sept. 14-15.
