Chick Regains Momentum at Baer Field Motorsports Park
Inside Line Promotions – FORT WAYNE, Ind. (July 10, 2019) – Mandy Chick regained her momentum last Sunday thanks to a strong performance with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour at Baer Field Motorsports Park.
“Coming off the Anderson weekend we were frustrated and discouraged, but I knew that we had to pick right back up and keep fighting,” she said. “It’s all in the mindset and that showed last weekend.”
Chick kicked the weekend off on a high note by timing in the top five in practice. That speed carried through as she laid down a solid qualifying lap at sixth overall.
“We were fast right off the bat,” she said. “VanDoorn Racing Development gave me some awesome setup notes and my team did a great job with setting the car up. We were fifth quick in practice and had such a solid qualifying lap to put us toward the front of the field.”
The inversion lined Chick up on the outside of the third row for the 100-lap feature. She held onto fifth for the majority of the race before falling back one position to finish sixth, earning her fourth top 10 of the season.
“We were back in contention this weekend,” she said. “We ran between third and fifth for 75 laps and then my car just got too tight toward the end of the race so we ended up sixth. I really believe that if we had the same car at the end of the race, the car that we started with, that we would have been able to contend for a win. It also was a very solid points night for us. With everything from Anderson to this race, it was a huge confidence boost to regain our momentum. We’re ready for this championship battle.”
Chick’s next race will be July 20-21 at Memphis International Raceway in Memphis, Tenn., with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour.
“I’m really excited to go to Memphis,” she said. “It’ll be my first time racing there, but the place has so much history. My dad’s truck team used to race there back in the 2000s so to be able race on it myself is pretty cool. I think that we will be able to pick up the track quickly and adapt as the weekend progresses.”
