Chick Battles for Top 10 Before Racing Incident Ends Night Early at Anderson
Inside Line Promotions – ANDERSON, Ind. (July 4, 2019) – Mandy Chick is ready to rally back throughout the rest of the season after tough luck struck during a JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour race at Anderson Speedway last Saturday.
“Last weekend was a wild one to say the least,” she said. “It was my first time at Anderson Speedway so we had some learning and catching up to do, but we picked it up quickly and that showed in the feature.”
Chick found speed in practice before qualifying 16th quickest.
“We had speed; we just didn’t get to showcase it too well because it started raining halfway through qualifying and we didn’t get as solid of a lap as I hoped to,” she said.
Chick started on the outside of the eighth row for the feature. She maneuvered her way through the field and up to the seventh position before a racing incident took her out of contention. Chick was credited with a 17th-place finish.
“We had a rocketship in the feature,” she said. “We had broken into the top 10 and were looking into the top five before we got collected in a wreck. Unfortunately, I had nowhere to go and that ended the night for us.
“It was a tough night for us, but we’re going to keep digging and working hard for the rest of the season. I have a great team and support system behind me. These guys are tough and you can’t knock them down for long. That just makes us want that championship at the end of the year that much more.”
Chick’s next race will be Sunday at Baer Field Motorsports Park in Fort Wayne, Ind., with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour.
