Inside Line Promotions – MARNE, Mich. (Aug. 30, 2018) – Following the cancellation of the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour race at Owosso Speedway last weekend, Mandy Chick and her team made the decision to trek to Berlin Raceway to make their super late model debut.

“We made the trip up to Michigan on Friday night and got word of the cancellation of the race at Owosso on Saturday morning so we were trying to figure out what to do at that point,” Chick said. “We called and talked with Butch and Johnny from VanDoorn Racing Development and they recommended we go to Berlin Raceway. They were having a 60-lap super late model race as part of their weekly show. So that’s what we did.”

Chick only got a 20-minute practice session in to be able to dial in the car for the super late model feature. The team knew that they would be down on horsepower racing with a pro late model engine against a field of super late model engines so working on the setup was crucial.

The lineup was set by points, therefore, Chick had to start at the back of the field in 15th. She was able to pick off one position to finish 14th in her first-career super late model start.

“Even though it was totally unplanned, it was a fun race to run,” she said. “Berlin is more of a technical track so being down on horsepower really wasn’t that big of a factor. However, we did struggle with the setup some and weren’t able to dial in the car as much as we would have liked to. I think we held our own for our first super late model race against a stacked field of Berlin locals that know the track like the back of their hand and I’m excited for the next super late model race.”

Chick is still locked into the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Chase for the Championship as she sits third in the championship standings. The Chase will now consist of three races instead of four because of the cancellation at Owosso Speedway last weekend.

Since Chick is in the Chase, she is also eligible for the 2018 CRA Most Popular Driver Award. Fans are able to vote for the most popular driver on Speed51.com once a day. Voting will end on Nov. 1. Votes for Chick can be cast by clicking https://speed51.com/2018-most-popular-driver-cra-champion-racing-association/

Chick’s next race will be this Sunday at Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Ind., for the Winchester 100 with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour.
