Inside Line Promotions – BRISTOL, Tenn. (May 31, 2018) – Mandy Chick scored her first top-10 finish of the season on May 18 during the Short Track U.S. Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway.

“I think the weekend at Bristol was good,” she said. “We went into practice with confidence. We ended up making some adjustments throughout the practice sessions and I changed my driving style up a bit to fit the demands of the high banking and high speeds.”

Chick qualified 15th, which lined her up on the inside of the eighth row for the 100-lap JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event.

“We had a couple of issues in qualifying and that put us a little farther back than what we would have liked,” she said. “But we just took our starting spot and rolled with it. I knew if we were smart and played our cards right that we could get a good finish.”

Chick encountered a mechanical issue where the right front shims fell out during the race, which required her to pit under green flag conditions. The team immediately sprung to action to replace the shims and to get Chick back on track for the remainder of the race. Chick and the team caught a lucky break as rain started to fall just as they finished the repairs to the No. 23 machine.

After the lengthy rain delay, Chick returned to competition and picked up a few more positions to finish eighth, which marked her best result of the season. Chick currently sits second in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour championship standings.

“I really can’t thank my team enough for how hard they worked to get us back out there,” she said. “I think we’re happy with the result and that we were able to load the car in the hauler in one piece.”

Chick will return to action on June 8 at Birch Run Speedway in Birch Run, Mich., with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour.

“Birch Run is going to be fun given that we’re running double the number of laps that we usually run,” she said. “We’ve overcome a lot and have become stronger as a team the last couple of races so we are digging for a win. I think our team is ambitious and driven enough to get it done.”
