Chick Scores Top-10 Result During Midget Debut on Dirt

Inside Line Promotions – GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (May 23, 2017) – Another rainout for her late model team sent Mandy Chick in search of another opportunity to race last weekend.

“I was kind of bummed out about the rainouts at Lebanon,” she said. “We were really looking forward to racing there again before the JEGS/CRA All Stars Tour comes in a couple of weeks, but a great opportunity presented itself otherwise.”

Fortunately, a last-minute deal came about for Chick to make her debut in a dirt midget on Saturday when she drove for Johnny Murdock at Valley Speedway.

“This dirt deal kind of came as a surprise to me,” she said. “I had never raced a dirt midget before so I was super excited to get behind the wheel of one.”

After being unable to make hot laps because of some adjustments to the car, Chick placed fourth in a heat race. That lined her up in the 13th starting position for the main event.

“That was really exciting for me, given that my only midget experience came from quarter midgets,” she said. “I’ve decided that I definitely want do that again and we got invited back by the car owner, Johnny Murdock, to race again this weekend.”

Chick advanced her way through the field to earn a seventh-place finish.

“I think this is a really big opportunity for me,” she said. “I already have a year and a half of experience in a dirt modified and I’ve been wanting to get back on dirt so this is an awesome deal unfolding.”

Chick will return to action driving for Murdock this Sunday at Central Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg, Mo.
