Stormy Scott banks $10,000 Hall of Fame Classic at Brownstown
Charging to the lead on the 31st circuit, Stormy Scott went on to claim the $10,000 Hall of Fame Classic victory on Saturday night at Brownstown Speedway behind the wheel of his Rancho Milagro Racing No. 2s Mesilla Valley Transportation/ Longhorn Chassis/ Clements Racing Engines Super Late Model.
“Josh Rice was a little bit better at stop-and-go around the bottom," Scott said after collecting his second win of the year. "But [crew chief] Jason [Durham] told me to move up there later in the race and I think [the track surface] started to get pretty black and I knew if I could just keep it up there and get it to where [the surface] was a little bit cleaner [and] slick, I knew that's usually what we shine in. Luckily it happened that way, and we got the win.
“My team is working so hard, and it’s showing in our results the past month or so. We’re looking forward to Florence [Speedway] this weekend.”
Stormy Scott visited Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Ind.) on Saturday evening for the Northern Allstars Late Model Series-sanctioned Hall of Fame Classic. After starting the night with a heat race victory, Scott’s dash victory placed him on the pole for the main event.
Powering ahead of Josh Rice for the lead on lap 31, Stormy controlled the final 18 circuits to claim his second win of the season and a $10,000 payday. He finished 2.047 seconds ahead of Rice with Devin Gilpin, Chad Stapleton, and Kent Robinson rounding out the top-five.
Meanwhile, Johnny was back with the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series after a short two-day break on Tuesday evening at Boone Speedway (Boone, Iowa) for the Hawkeye 100.
After racing his way into the $15,000-to-win A-Main with a third-place finish in his heat race, Johnny faded in to the final 10 circuits of the 50-lapper to finish 16th.
On Thursday, Johnny was one of 48 World of Outlaws entries that followed the series to Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wis.) for the 36th annual USA Nationals weekend. Following a pair of 15th-place finishes in preliminary features on Thursday and Friday, Johnny dropped four spots in Saturday’s $50,000-to-win USA Nationals finale to finish 17th.

Johnny Scott will be idle the next few weeks as he’s headed back home to Las Cruces to visit with family. Stormy Scott looks to continue his momentum this weekend in the 41st annual Sunoco North/South 100 at Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.). The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) weekend includes twin $5,000-to-win features on Thursday and Friday with a $75,000-to-win finale capping the crown jewel extravaganza on Saturday.
