Austin Theiss Begins 2018 Season at Wild West Shootout

Bringing the 2018 season to life, Austin Theiss traveled to FK ROD Ends Arizona Speedway (Queen Creek, Arizona) on Saturday night kicking off the 12th annual Keyser Manufacturing Wild West Shootout. Drawing 50 Super Late Models for the first round of the six-race tour, Theiss timed in second fastest in his qualifying group before landing a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Ricky Weiss. Earning the 9th-starting position for the opening feature, Austin slipped back to a 21st place outing in the 40-lap affair.

Returning on Sunday evening for another $5,000-to-win A-Main, Austin came up one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a 4th place finish. Transferring into the B-Main for another shot at the A-Main, Theiss logged a13th place finish ending his night early.
