18th Place Finish in Night Three of WWS
Austin Theiss was back in action at FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway (Queen Creek, Arizona) on Wednesday night for round three of the Keyser Manufacturing Wild West Shootout. In a field of 45 cars, Theiss timed in second quickest in his group before capturing an 8-lap heat race victory. After a scheduled off day on Thursday, Theiss was one of 46 Super Late Models signed in on Friday night for the fourth round of the six-race tour. Following the fourth fastest time in his qualifying group, Theiss logged a 9th place finish in his heat race transferring him into the B-Main. Sending the Top 4 into the show, Austin registered an 11th place outing ending his night early.
The following night, Theiss posted a 10th place finish in his heat race giving him one final shot at the $5,000-to-win A-Main with a B-Main appearance. Needing to place in the Top 5, Austin came up two spots shy of at transfer position with a 6th place finish.
Wrapping up the 12th annual Wild West Shootout on Sunday, Austin dropped back to a 12th place outing in his heat sending him into the B-Main for one final shot at the $13,000-to-win finale. Transferring the Top 4, Theiss recorded a 11th place outing bringing an early end to his weekend.
