Inside Line Promotions – COLUMBIA, Mo. (Oct. 18, 2021) – Confidence and momentum are on the side of Bryant Paver Motorsports driver Garet Williamson entering one of sprint car racing’s marquee events.
The team is heading to I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., for the 34th annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires this Friday and Saturday when the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour sanctions the event.
“This year there’s a new format so I think that’ll be a cool deal,” Williamson said. “I like qualifying. I think you’ll have to race your way in rather than just drawing a good pill. It puts it more in the driver’s hands.”
Williamson enjoyed a strong showing during his Short Track Nationals debut last year.
“I feel like we’ve been pretty good there,” he said. “Last year we were starting fifth during the first night and a guy flipped onto us. We had to go to the work area and change our wing. Then we came from the back up to sixth. I think I’ve ran sixth there before during another ASCS National Tour show as well. We’ve had some success and been fast.”
Last year’s performance combined with a string of recent success has Williamson amped entering this weekend’s event at the quarter-mile track.
“I feel we get around short, high-banked tracks pretty good,” he said. “We usually thrive on tracks like that.
“I think a top five on Saturday is doable. Heading into the winter knowing you ended the season good is important. We ended last year on a high note and we want to do the same this year.”
