Williamson Returning to Full-Time Action on ASCS National Tour Next Season

Inside Line Promotions – COLUMBIA, Mo. (Dec. 20, 2021) – Bryant Paver Motorsports driver Garet Williamson is rejoining the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour in 2022.

Williamson battled to a ninth-place finish in the championship standings and a runner-up result in the chase for the Rookie of the Year Award in 2020. This year he placed 12th in the standings while running part time. Next year the plan is to return to full-time competition.

“I think what Terry (Mattox) is doing with it is a great deal,” Williamson said. “We have almost 60 races and they are mostly within 10 hours away. If you can race that much and not have to travel that far it’s a good schedule for us. Plus, with it being the ASCS National Tour, you get a good amount of attention for your sponsors.”

Williamson and the team will mix in regional races along with select 410ci winged sprint car starts next season. He made his 410 debut in 2021 and found it beneficial when he returned to 360 action.

“We’d also like to run at Knoxville Raceway (in Knoxville, Iowa) when the opportunity presents itself,” he said. “There are some big races at that track and I think we’ve learned every time we’ve raced there.

“As far as our goals with the ASCS National Tour, a top five in points and we want to get our first ASCS National Tour win. I think once we click that first one off we’ll be able to win a lot more.”

Williamson registered his first three top-five finishes with the ASCS National Tour this season, highlighted by a career-best second-place showing. Williamson’s eight top-10 outings during ASCS National Tour competition this year nearly tripled his total from 2020.

“Learning how to adapt quickly during our rookie year on every track taught me a lot,” he said. “I feel I’m smarter behind the wheel. We hurt some equipment this year, but that was part of the learning curve of how hard to push it and when you need to be smart. The second half of the season we were really strong.”
