Erb steers to podium finish at Red Cedar Speedway
After Monday’s visit with the XR Super Series at Gondik Law Speedway (Superior, Wis.) resulted in an early exit, Tyler Erb headed to Red Cedar Speedway (Menomonie, Wis.) on Tuesday to pilot the Jimmy Mars-owned No. 28 Late Model for the XR Workin’ Man Series-sanctioned Rumble at Red Cedar.
With a fourth-place finish in his heat race lining him up on the fifth row for the $10,000-to-win A-Main, Tyler climbed seven positions in the 50-lap affair to register a third-place finish. He followed Nick Hoffman and Ricky Weiss across the line with Tanner English and Ashton Winger rounding out the top-five.
On Thursday, Erb was back with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) at Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.) for a pair of prelims to kick off the 41st Sunoco North-South 100 weekend. Starting his preliminary in ninth via third-place showing in his heat, Tyler jumped up two spots to finish seventh.
The following night, Tyler raced into his prelim with a runner-up run in his consolation race after missing a transfer spot in his heat. Charging forward eight positions in the 25-lap affair, Erb recorded a 14th-place outing.
With results from prelims on Thursday and Friday setting the grid for heat races on Saturday, Erb was collected in a tangle in his heat that forced him to rely on a provisional into the $75,000-to-win Sunoco North-South 100 finale. Pinned on the 13th row, Tyler gained six positions in the 100-lapper to finish 19th.
Tyler is currently ninth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
