Erb marches to sixth in Gateway Dirt Nationals finale at The Dome
Looking to defend his $30,000 victory in 2022, Tyler Erb returned to The Dome at America’s Center (St. Louis, Mo.) over the weekend as seventh running of the Gateway Dirt Nationals kicked off with prelims on Thursday and Friday.
With the 127-car field split in two, Erb crossed the line in second in his heat race on Thursday but was later docked three positions after officials deemed his transponder was incorrectly mounted. He completed two laps of his B-Main before pulling in.
Back in action on Saturday, Tyler failed to transfer out of his qualifier but managed to climb seven positions to finish sixth. Receiving a provisional into the $30,000-to-win Gateway Dirt Nationals finale as the defending event winner, Erb passed 14 more cars in the 40-lap affair to cap off the weekend with an impressive sixth-place showing.
