Tyler Erb races to fifth in Silver Dollar Nationals at Huset's
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) brought Best Performance Motorsports and Tyler Erb to Huset’s Speedway (Brandon, S.D.) as Thursday’s Go 50 prelim kicked off the Silver Dollar Nationals weekend at its new home in South Dakota.
In a field of 40 cars for the 13th running of the event, Erb snuck into the $12,000-to-win opener with the fourth-and-final transfer spot in his heat. Moving forward four spots on a track that saw limited passing, Tyler muscled to a 12th-place finish.
With Mother Nature shifting both rounds of heat races scheduled for Friday to Saturday afternoon, Tyler came in first in his first heat before gaining one spot in the second round to finish sixth.
Starting Saturday night’s $53,000-to-win Silver Dollar Nationals in 12th based on passing points accrued in heat races, Erb passed seven cars in the 80-lap affair to register a fifth-place finish. He chased race-long pacesetter Brandon Sheppard, Bobby Pierce, Hudson O’Neal, and Ricky Thornton Jr. to the checkers.
Tyler climbed to seventh in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
