It's been a bit of a rough start to the 2013 season for Waters Motorsports and driver Cole Melby, having already experienced 2 DNFs in just 5 races, but the team is staying focused.

Cole and team kicked off the season May 11th at Sweet Springs Raceway, and was fast right out of the gate. But soon misfortune would prevail as chain problems ended their night just 6 laps into the feature. Disappointed but undeterred, the team loaded up and prepped to compete at Double-X Speedway in California, MO the following night.

Sunday night at Double-X was a big morale booster as Cole drove to a 5th place finish in the feature event. Up next was a trip to Valley Speedway on Wednesday, May 22nd as a support class for the ASCS National Tour. This proved to be Cole's best race so far, coming home with a 3rd place finish.

Upon returning to Sweet Springs on May 24th, the bad luck continued. After an ill-handling car caused a poor heat race finish, Cole started 12th in the feature and drove to 4th in only 11 laps. The car was handling perfect through the middle of the race track, but the good fortune was to be short lived as a part malfunction near lap 18 caused yet another DNF.

The Waters Motorsports team then headed to Atchison County Raceway in Atchison, KS for the first time on Saturday night. A last lap pass in the heat race resulted in a 2nd place finish. The redraw put Cole starting 10th in the A-main, where he ended up finishing 9th.

Waters Motorsports looks forward to returning to Sweet Springs Raceway and Double-X Speedway this Saturday and Sunday night!
