Brandon Overton Secures Hunt the Front Title with I-75 Raceway Triumph

Banks $70,000 in Championship Weekend

EVANS, Ga. (11/04/24) – Brandon Overton captured the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series title in dominant fashion on Saturday night with a $20,000 triumph in the Championship Weekend finale at I-75 Raceway aboard his Wells & Sons Motorsports No. 76 Convenient Lube / Muscle Factory / Infinity Chassis / Clements Racing Engines - powered Super Late Model.

The Evans, Ga., pilot slid ahead of pole-starting Dale McDowell following a lap-17 restart and drove to his ninth win of the season in the 50-lap affair.

Overton’s win on Saturday night marked his third career victory with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series.

"I just wanted to keep riding around (in the lead). It's been a while," Overton said. "I know we've been struggling a little bit. People kinda, I guess, they lose confidence in you or whatever. And I just thought I'd remind them every now and then, you know, I can still drive these damn things."

The Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series season finale brought Overton and the Wells Motorsports team to I-75 Raceway (Sweetwater, Tenn.) on Friday afternoon to compete in the doubleheader weekend.

With the 3/8-mile oval drawing 29 Super Late Models on Friday, Overton outran Stormy Scott in his heat race to pick up the eight-lap victory. Gunning for the $10,000 preliminary payday in the feature, Brandon rallied to finish eighth in the 50-lapper after suffering a right-rear flat tire on lap 41.

On Saturday, Brandon backed up the fifth-fastest lap in his time trial group with a second-place finish in his heat. Starting the main event in fifth, Overton whizzed ahead of early pacesetter Dale McDowell on a lap-17 restart and controlled the remainder of the 50-lap affair to claim the $20,000 paycheck and his ninth win of the season.

Just by completing a single lap in time trials on Saturday night, Overton secured the $50,000 Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series points title.

Overton concluded the weekend on Sunday with a visit to East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Ala.) to pilot the Cowan Brothers Racing No. 14x Late Model for the XR Super Series-sanctioned program. After driving into the $30,000-to-win National 100 with a fifth-to-second heat showing, Brandon was an early retiree from the main event on lap 62, relegating him to 16th in the final rundown.

Overton now turns his attention to the World of Outlaws (WoO) Case Late Model Series World Finals this weekend at The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Following Wednesday’s scheduled time trial session, a pair of $15,000-to-win preliminaries on Thursday and Friday set the stage for Saturday’s finale, which boasts a $25,000 top prize.
