Justin Duty earns MARS rookie honors at Fairbury
All Justin Duty had to do at Fairbury Speedway on Friday and Saturday was start the feature in the final two events of the 2024 MARS Late Model Championship and he would be Rookie of the Year. He accomplished that feat at the quarter-mile oval in Fairbury, Illinois, and also posted a third-place result in the final overall point standings.
When the FALS Frenzy got underway on Friday, Duty was among 40 MARS competitors in the Fairbury pit area seeking the night’s $5,000 winner’s share. On Saturday, 39 teams descended on Fairbury for the MARS season finale and its $12,000 first-place payout. Duty struggled early and was unable to start his heat race, then registered a DNF in his B-Main. However, he received a provisional starting spot in the 50-lap main event and finished 18th after starting 21st.
The 2024 season is now in the books for the Double Duty Motorsports team. Justin Duty grabbed seven top-five finishes and 18 top-10 results overall, while his father John picked up one win, eight top-fives and eight top-10s.
