Justin Duty battles at Brownstown and Davenport with special guest

The younger half of Double Duty Motorsports, Justin Duty, raced over the weekend with his usually remote crew chief – his father, John. The veteran racer flew in from the Pacific Northwest for the occasion and saw his son compete with a pair of tours.

On Friday, Justin Duty continued his season with the Midwest Auto Racing Series (MARS) Late Model Championship at the Brownstown (Illinois) Bullring. His Don Frank Floors No. 15 Super Late Model was part of a 31-car field on hand for the Brownstown 100. Duty qualified with the seventh-quickest time and finished third in his heat race. He went on to start seventh in the 50-lap, $5,000-to-win feature and recorded a sixth-place result.

The next night, the MARS schedule was slated to shift to Paducah (Kentucky) International Raceway for the $12,000-to-win USA 50. However, when that event was rained out, Justin, John and the team instead headed to Iowa. In the Hawkeye State, they participated in the second night of the inaugural Corn State Nationals at Davenport Speedway with the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA).

Duty, who was one of 36 MLRA drivers at the quarter-mile Davenport track, struggled in qualifying but mounted a ninth-to-fourth charge in his heat. He started 16th in the 40-lap, $10,000-to-win main event and picked up four spots to post a 12th-place finish.

With just two races remaining on the 2024 schedule, Duty sits third in the MARS Late Model points and continues to show the way in the battle for Rookie of the Year.
