Justin Duty grabs trio of top-5 finishes in Oregon

Double Duty Motorsports driver Justin Duty returned home to Oregon over Independence Day weekend and drove his dad John’s new No. 5 Longhorn chassis in three $2,000-to-win Coors Light Silver Bullet I-5 Series races. Justin’s first time racing in his home state in approximately five years was a success as he finished no worse than fifth in any of the feature events.

The racing slate kicked off Thursday with the Firework 50 at Douglas County Dirt Track in Roseburg. Duty topped qualifying on the 3/10-mile oval and advanced from sixth to second in his heat race. He started the 50-lap A-Main from the third spot and led 16 laps in the middle stages before ultimately recording a fourth-place result. He chased Collen Winebarger, Joey Tanner and Bricen James under the checkered flag, while Rob Mayea finished fifth.

Another race at Douglas County was on tap Friday, and again Duty bested all competitors in qualifying. He raced to fourth in his heat and started on the fourth row in the 30-lap A-Main. He picked up two spots in the main event to record a fifth-place finish behind Winebarger, James, McLain Beaudoin and Tanner.

On Saturday, the schedule shifted to Lebanon’s Willamette Speedway for the Fire Cracker 100 at the 1/3-mile oval. After a sixth-place qualifying effort, Duty nabbed the runner-up spot in his heat race and charged from ninth to take the runner-up spot in the 50-lap feature. He finished less than two-tenths of a second behind Winebarger. Tanner, James and Mayea completed the top five.
