Rilat Excited for ASCS National Tour Event Close to Home This Weekend at Devil’s Bowl

Inside Line Promotions – HEATH, Texas (March 13, 2019) – Travis Rilat will enjoy some home cooking this weekend as the BDS Motorsports driver competes at the race track closest to his hometown.

Rilat and team are slated to race on Friday and Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, during the 46th annual ASCS Spring Nationals. It’s the first two races of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour schedule.

“It’s a huge benefit to race close to home, especially when it’s at a track where you have a lot of laps,” he said. “Some family and friends will be able to come out and watch us race this weekend as well so that’s an added bonus.”

Rilat has captured at least one top-10 finish at the half-mile oval during each of the last 14 years. He earned Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour triumphs at the track in 2002 and 2006.

“I think we had a car capable of winning there last year, too,” he said.

Rilat charged from sixth into the runner-up position and was closing on the leader early in the race during last year’s ASCS Spring Nationals before a mechanical problem relegated him to the pits early. However, he posted a fifth-place run during the Speedweek event in the summer to extend his top-10 streak at the track.

“Hopefully we can put ourselves in position to compete for a win or two this weekend,” he said. “It begins with drawing a good pill that determines our heat race starting position. Then we need to make the most of the situation to get into the feature redraw. If we can do that and pull a decent redraw number we’ll be where we want, which is in a position to race for a victory.”
