Rilat Holding High Hopes Heading Into Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s

Inside Line Promotions – HEATH, Texas (Feb. 12, 2019) – Travis Rilat and BDS Motorsports will kick off the 2019 sprint car season this weekend at the Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s.

East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Fla., hosts the tripleheader from Thursday through Saturday. The event is named in honor of one of Rilat’s friends who passed away in 2002.

“We’ve run the Ronald Laney Memorial for a number of years and it’s a special event,” Rilat said. “We won a prelim night in 2006 and have had a lot of strong results, but it’d be really special to win the finale and that’s our goal.”

Rilat has recorded multiple top 10s during each of the last three editions of the event, posting podiums in 2016 and 2017 before earning results of ninth, eighth and seventh, respectively, last year.

“It’s important to watch the track throughout the night because it can get slick quick,” he said. “I think that track is one that is beneficial to have a lot of laps on so hopefully that plays into our hands.”

This year also marks the second full season that Rilat will drive for Bryan Sundby’s BDS Motorsports. The team garnered eight top fives – six during ASCS National Tour competition – and 20 top 10s while driving to a top-10 finish in the ASCS National Tour championship standings last year.
