BDS shows a lot of speed during ASCS National Tour opener at Devil’s Bowl

March 19, 2018 (Dupo, IL) The 2018 ASCS National Tour kicked off last weekend at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas. While the results may not show it, all three of the BDS Motorsports entries had great speed throughout opening night, including an impressive 18th to fourth-place run by Skylar Gee. Unfortunately due to severe weather in the area, Saturday’s portion of the Spring Nationals were canceled, bringing an early end to opening weekend.

Race recaps by driver:

Travis Rilat #1 – In heat race action, Travis moved forward from a third-place starting position to a second-place finish, earning him valuable finishing and passing points. His heat race run put him starting sixth in the 25-lap A-main event. With a strong race car, Travis moved forward in the A-main and was chasing leader Martin Edwards before a mechanical issue ended his night early. Travis was credited with a 21st place finish.

Robbie Price #21 – Robbie started fifth in his heat race and moved forward to a great third-place finish. Based on passing points, Robbie made the re-draw and lined up fifth in the A-main. On lap one, contact with another car caused Robbie to spin, which sent him to the back of the field. On the restart, Robbie made contact with the infield tire and flipped, ending his night early and resulting in a 22nd place finish to start his ASCS season.

Skylar Gee #99 – After an eighth to sixth-place run in his heat race, Skylar lined up fourth in the 12-lap B-main. Moving forward to a second-place finish, Skylar then lined up his #99 all the way back in 18th for the A-main. As the green flag waved, Skylar went to work, capitalizing on what he figured out in the B and moved forward 14 positions to a great fourth-place finish, earning him the CP-Carrillo Hard Charger Award for the night. His fourth-place finish would have locked him into Saturday’s A-main, but unfortunately Mother Nature took the win Saturday night and ended the weekend early.

Coming up next for BDS Motorsports will be the Texas Sprint Car Nationals at the Texas Motor Speedway on April 6th and 7th. This year’s race is once again being held in conjunction with NASCAR at the Texas Motor Speedway, so a great field of cars and fans is expected and the racing action will also be taped for Lucas Oil Racing TV. Be sure to check out all BDS Motorsports’ social media pages for updates and photos from each and every race weekend.
