Rilat Excited for ASCS National Tour Doubleheader at Devil’s Bowl Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – HEATH, Texas (Oct. 15, 2018) – Travis Rilat is heading to familiar territory this weekend as the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com ventures to Devil’s Bowl Speedway.
The half-mile oval in Mesquite, Texas, will host the 45th annual Winter Nationals on Friday and Saturday.
“We always look forward to racing at Devil’s Bowl,” Rilat said. “It’s the closest track to where I live and it’s a place where we’ve had a lot of success throughout the years. We’ll have more family and friends come out compared to a race in other parts of the country so that adds to the excitement.
“We haven’t won a ton of races there, but we’ve had strong finishes. This seems to be one of the tracks we do fairly decent at. I’m not sure if it’s because we have more laps there or the track suits my style, but we usually run well there.”
The BDS Motorsports driver earned ASCS National Tour triumphs at the half-mile oval in 2002 and 2006. He posted a season-best fifth-place finish during the Speedweek race this summer to extend his streak of at least one top-10 result at the track in each of the last 14 years.
“We had a strong car there during our first race in March,” he said. “We were in second place and going to contend for the win when we had mechanical problems. And we ran a strong fifth in June during the Speedweek show. We’re trying to close out the year with some podiums.”
Rilat charged from 21st to 11th during the Winter Nationals opener last year before capturing an eighth-place finish during the finale.
He enters this weekend ranked ninth in the ASCS National Tour championship standings despite missing multiple races because of work.
