PETERSEN MEDIA- Ian Madsen and KCP Racing were in action on a pair of occasions over the weekend. Finishing ninth with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ Friday night, Madsen would have a good night going on Saturday night until an early wreck in the feature event brought things to an end.

“I feel like we are starting to come into a groove and consistently be up front battling for good finishes,” Madsen said. “Saturday night had the makings of being a great night but unfortunately an early incident did us in.”

Checking in at I-96 Speedway in Michigan on Friday night, the St. Marys, NSW native timed the Logan Contractors Supply Inc./Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed No. 18 entry in 10th fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up fourth in his heat race, ‘Dyno’ would finish fourth and line up 10th for the 35-lap feature event. When the feature came to life, Madsen would find himself battling for position inside the Top-10 as he slipped back to 11th in the race’s early goings.

Getting into 10th on the fourth lap, Madsen would settle in before working into ninth just prior to the race’s halfway point. Falling back to 15th with just 15-laps to go, Madsen would get his elbows up as he was able to fight his way back forward and take the checkered flag with a ninth place finish.

Traveling to Wilmot, WI on Saturday night to take part in the ‘Badger 40’, Madsen would open the night up by timing third fastest during qualifying time trials. Lining up on the front row of his heat race alongside David Gravel, Madsen would finish in second and move directly into the feature event as well as into the Dash.

Drawing the three pill for the Dash line up, Madsen would finish second and put his KCP Racing entry on the front row for the 40-lap feature event.

A rainstorm would roll into the area and drench the speedway causing a lengthy delay, but officials were persistent in their efforts and the show was able to get in.

After a wreck wiped out the race’s initial start, Madsen would find himself back in third as he chased after Daryn Pittman and Brent Marks. Battling with Gio Scelzi on the fifth lap, contact would ensue and it would result in damage to Madsen’s entry that would bring his night to a very early end.

“It was disappointing to end our night like that, but we have a big race week to look forward to this week,” Madsen said. “Thanks to my guys for their hard work, and as always thanks to our partners for their continued to support.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Team Kline Electric, Ted’s Body Shop, Bobcat, Team Excavating, Greenland Homes, Finer Cuts Lawn and Landscape, American Express, TammyHeckart.com, Quality Traffic Control, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Revolution Race Gear, Monarch’s, and BK Racing Titanium for their support this season.
