Hodges Motorsports Update - Southern NM Speedway
The racing weekend is over for the ASCS National Tour in Las Cruces, NM after two days of racing wheel to wheel atop the Southern New Mexico Speedway. Tonight kicked off for us with pulling the 33 pill to start 4th in the 4th heat. The track wasn't as wet to start with as last night and it was dusty, black, and slick all the way up to the cushion when we hit the track. After getting under way, I found myself just too loose and I was only able to hang on to 4th place in the heat. That put us starting 5th in the 3rd B feature. It was evident that the track had taken rubber, and it was going to be tough to pass at all. After an early caution which me moved me to 3rd, I fell in line there when the leaders went off the end of turns 3 and 4 due to strong winds, but a caution came out and they got their spots back. There was caution after caution, and I was as fast as the leaders but I could not do anything to challenge them so we came home 3rd, one spot from the transfer position and ending our night. Now we look ahead just a few days to Thursday the 17th for the 44th Annual Kronik Energy Drinks Western World Championships at USA Raceway. We will run the wing car on Thursday and the non-wing car on Friday so it will be a full weekend for us but we are confident we can have some good runs in both cars in Tucson, AZ.
