Hodges Motorsports Update - Hank Arnold Memorial
The Hank Arnold Memorial is wrapped up this holdiay weekend in Tucson, AZ. Last night I pulled pill 44 to start 6th in the first heat. The track was really hard and almost starting to dry up when we went out, and on a pretty good start I jumped into 4th and was charging for 3rd about a lap in when a rock broke a spark plug. After trying to go for about a lap, I decided to pull it off after falling back to be cautious. Of course that put us all the way on the inside of the final row for the feature. Now there was a small lane on the bottom and the cusion on top that you could get ahold of but that was it. I worked my way by a few cars a few laps in and got myself all the way to 13th before a lap 11 caution. On the restart I was just lapped so ther was a one car in front of me that I was racing for position with. Once we got going I was as fast as 2nd on back, so I hung there the rest of the race and came home 11th. It was tough starting in the rear of the field, and it took me a few laps to get going, but I ran a better race as far as making decisions the second night. A big thank you to Brad Benic who made a big difference this weekend, and we made some good strides.
