Hodges Motorsports Update - Devil's Bowl Speedway

Another night of wheel to wheel action is over with at the Devil's Bowl Speedway with the ASCS Nationals boys. I started of pulling a better pill than the night before, a 30, which set us up for outside of the second row in the first of six heat races. The track was heavy and fast with a small black streak through the middle, giving it a slick groove. Entering into turns 1 and 2 on the first lap, I was able to take 3rd, but do nothing else for the remainder of the race. With just one position gained, I needed to run the first B, starting from 3rd. Now the track was pretty well slick all the way across, with just a little moisture left on the bottom to grab a hold of. I got off to a bad start, falling to 4th with a good gap between me and the transfer spot, but about halfway in, I started hitting my marks and the car really came in. I was catching 2nd and 3rd quickly until I was right there with two laps to go. I got on the outside of 3rd once but couldn't get it done, but on the last lap coming out of 4, I got a head of steam and shot past for the transfer but was caught behind a lap car, and was not clear to come up so I got passed on the outside, missing the transfer. It was close but close doesn't cut it when you're running against the best. Next week we'll head southwest again to run at USA Raceway with the ASCS Southwest again. After the first couple races we are leading points, and look to keep that lead next weekend.
