Hodges Motorsports Update - Copper on Dirt
We got the car washed up and we are ready to again tonight at the Copper on Dirt after a wild and exciting show of racing action last night atop the lightning fast USA Raceway in Tucson. I started off by pulling pill number 45 which set me fourth row inside for the first heat race. The track had already widened out to two racing grooves and I got one car on the start, but wasn't very happy at all. The car seemed unsettled, and I had trouble getting in rythm. Finally, I got by for 5th on the last lap, but we were still unhappy with the outcome. After points were added up, we were two spots short of the A Feature so we had to run the second B Main from the pole. The track was similar, but the car was better, and I was in the lead for a couple open laps before Jack Dover pulled a nice slide job to take the lead. I ended up 2nd, good enough to transfer to the A. I was happy we took a step in the right direction, and was excited for the Feature. Starting from the 20th position, there was only room to move forward on either the finesse bottom groove or the hammer down 6 inch cushion. The race was filled with caution flags and full of action, and towards the middle part of the race, my car was getting good, moving up to 11th and 12th at times and going forward, until after a caution, the car broke loose entering turn 3. I caught it, but after that, the car didn't feel the same. It also started picking up a vibrattion at that same point too. With the car going away, me trying to make it work, I fell back to 14th where I would finish. I was pleased with making the main, and keeping the car in one piece, but we are a little concerned with the vibration, and we'd like to improve tonight. Racing starts at 6 mountain time, so don't forget to catch it on RacinBoys.com tonight, you won't be disappointed!
