Graves Motorsports Prepares for Weekend With ASCS Lone Star Region
Inside Line Promotions – LUBBOCK, Texas (June 9, 2014) – Graves Motorsports and driver Kolt Walker return to action this weekend with an ASCS Lone Star Region doubleheader.
The team is third in the region championship standings – only 51 points out of the lead – entering Friday’s race at Timberline Speedway in Corley, Texas, where Walker has competed one time. He won his heat race and finished sixth in the feature last year.
“I think it was the first time they ran sprint cars there,” he said. “It’s a nice place. Last year it went slick and started taking rubber with about 10 to go. Me and (Seth) Bergman battled forever for third place. We were better than where we finished.”
Graves Motorsports will then tackle Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, this Saturday for a co-sanctioned race with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour, which kicks off the Bob Westphal Memorial Cup Speedweek at the half-mile track.
“All the big boys will be there, but when we do good that’s who I want to be there,” Walker said. “Devil’s Bowl is very familiar. We’ve learned some things and we changed some things on shocks to hopefully better our program since then.”
Walker has competed at Devil’s Bowl Speedway a trio of times this season with a top-10 result in the past two races there.
“It’s going to be tough this weekend because there will be all the national guys,” he said. “The draw will be important. You have to get a good starting position and take advantage of that. I’m hoping for a couple of top fives this weekend.”
