FREMONT, Ohio – Coming off an impressive second-place finish last Saturday night at Fremont Speedway, Cap Henry next plans for a return to the third-mile oval in what will be Genzman Racing Enterprises’ last weekend of competition. Before Henry took the helm of the No. 53, the list of men who had driven it could be described as a ‘who’s who’ of Ohio sprint car racing. The late proprietor of the team, De Genzman, was a late-model racing legend in Ohio, snagging multiple championships and over 100 career victories, including 26 at Fremont. Genzman was inducted into the Fremont Speedway Hall of Fame, that he helped procure, in 2010. After his passing in 2011, his wife Marilyn continued to operate the team and brought Henry on as driver late last season. Since then, Henry has added five victories to the team’s illustrious history.

Before the upcoming Jim Ford Classic weekend featuring the All Star Circuit of Champions, Henry had to complete the points season at Fremont, within striking distance of points leader Byron Reed. 24 sprint cars signed in for 410ci action, and Henry took to the track from the tail of heat two. Rallying forward three spots earned him a fifth-place finish there.

For the 30-lap main event, Henry took the green from outside row seven. With Reed starting five rows ahead, the pressure was on for Henry to incite a rally. It didn’t take long for the No. 53 J&J to do that, as Henry moved it into the seventh position in just six laps. Soon, he was knocking on the door of the top five, and made it in just before the halfway point. Taking third by lap 20, Henry closed in on Reed for second, who would ultimately stop with mechanical issues with six to go. For the restart, Henry made every effort to pass leader Cole Duncan, but brought the machine home in second. Though Reed failed to finish the race, his point lead was narrowly enough to win the championship. Henry fell just ten points short of the title, accumulating 1225 markers throughout the season to Reed’s 1235.

Ahead of the final weekend for Genzman Racing Enterprises, Henry reflected, “This weekend will be the final time the Genzman 53 hits the race track. I’ve been very lucky to race for Marilyn and her team, and it will be a mixture of emotions climbing into the 53 for the final time. I want to thank Marilyn, not just for the opportunity, but for also fielding a car for so many years for so many others. Anyone that has driven the 53 knows how great De and Marilyn both are. Thanks to the Genzman family for everything you have done for the racing community!”

Henry would also like to thank Level Performance, J&J Auto Racing, OC Shocks, FK Rod Ends, Simpson Race Products, Keizer Wheels, Wings Unlimited, HMS Speedways & Hobbies, Handy Grafix, and Kear's Speed Shop as well as his family and all of his great fans for their continued support.
